Home sweet Wallingford

Last night was my first night in my new home! I'm still de-stressing from the move (and still unpacking) but I can't wait to explore my new and lovely neighborhood of Wallingford, Seattle.  Here are a few of the places I am looking forward to frequenting.

Molly Moon's Ice Cream

Arguably the best ice cream out there.  Molly Moon's makes there waffle cones fresh in the store (you can smell them down the block) and offers a variety of amazing flavors like salted caramel and birthday cake. But the best part about Molly Moons is their dedication to using local ingredient!

Farmers Market

On the subject of local food, Wallingford for has an excellent Farmers Market on Wednesdays.  I'm looking forward to picking up fresh fruit and veg (not to mention meat, jam, and cheese) Yummy!

Archie Mcphee

Archie Mcphee is the place to go for gag gifts or anytime you need a giggle. I love to stop by when I  need an unusual hostess gift, party favor or something funny to add to a gift bag.

Pacific Inn Pub
I love to hit up the Pacific in when they have the Yankees playing on the t.v. (still a NYC girl at heart). Good burgers, good beer, friendly staff, it's the perfect little neighborhood pub.

Well so far I am loving Wallingford, one of my lovely new roommates is taking me out for italian tonight and then I really must get back to unpacking and settling in.

Louis V

I am so in love with these photos from Louis Vuitton's fall 2010 collection. They are a kind of sexy/sweet, glamorous throw back to the feminine women of the 1950's. Vuitton designer Marc Jacobs said "This season was a manifesto for beautiful, ladylike clothes." I'm loving it, how about you? And how gorgeous does Christy Turlington look? She is rocking her 40's!

Broadway has been Baring it for 20 years!

Last Sunday was the 20th annual Broadway Bares event in New York.  The burlesque/ variety show featured some of Broadways biggest stars yet still maintain a community feeling.  Since in started in '92 with seven dancers stripping on a bar, it has been raising money for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and this years "Strip-opoly" show made over $1 million, how great is that?

Uniformity

If you haven't been to The Sartorialist you need to check it out.  It's a great blog if you are into fashion or just people watching.  I had to read post this lovely lady and what he had to say about uniforms.

"Uniforms are, by nature, an attempt to make people conform to a code. I always find it interesting when people are able to play within the set boundaries of a code while still not totally losing their own uniqueness."

Words of Wisdom

The mark of the immature man is that he wants to die nobly for a cause, while the mark of the mature man is that he wants to live humbly for one.

J.D. Salinger

I just finished reading Catcher in the Rye and absolutely loved it. I want to read The Help next, I started it but had to bring it back to the library. What are you reading this summer?

Summer Dinners

I love to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon watching the foodnetwork, my all time favorite shows are Barefoot Contessa and Everyday Italian.  I am heading up to the farmers market after work today, now that it finally feels like summertime I am inspired to cook more.  I'd also like to try preserves, I love the idea of buy bulk, fresh, fruit and putting it up for winter.  Here are a couple of videos, hope they inspire you, or at lest make you hungry.

Words of Wisdom

It is an ugly city, a dirty city. Its climate is a scandal. Its politics are used to frighten children. Its traffic is madness. Its competition is murderous. But there is one thing about it-once you have lived in New York and it has become your home, no other place is good enough.

My Grandparents

My uncle emailed me these great photos of my grandparents, weren't they classy? I never got to meet my grandfather (he passed when my mother was just a girl) but I love hearing stories about him. My grandmother has always been a hero of mine, she was an amazingly strong, stylish and funny women, I think you can see some of that in these photos.
  Miss you Gran.

My Nerdness

So last night was the season finale of Glee.  I have to admit it has become one of my favorite shows and I got a little emotional, or as Sue would put it I "teared up more then Michael Landon on little house."  How about you? Any fellow Gleeks? What is your guilty pleasure TV?

Got To Love De La Renta

I have been drooling over these photos from Oscar De La Renta's resort collection. There is no denying the man knows how to dress women. How amazing would it be to have such a work of art hanging in your closet.
